Food resources in Bethel

With the ongoing government shutdown affecting SNAP benefits, we want our Bethel community to know that local food resources are available.

In Oregon, about 1 in 6 people—roughly 757,000 Oregonians—receive SNAP benefits, including 210,000 children and 130,000 older adults. This is a large part of our community, and we know any disruption in benefits will have a deep impact.

If your family is feeling this strain, please know you are not alone. Local food pantries, meal sites, and community partners are here to help. Check out this ParentSquare post with local food resources. If you or your family anticipate needing food assistance in November or December, please fill out this form.

If you are able, please consider donating towards our Food Drive: Saturday, November 8, from 10am-2pm at the Clear Lake Community Center.

We’re a community that takes care of one another. Please share these resources with friends and neighbors who may need support.

Conferences

Conferences are coming up Nov. 24 and 25th! If they haven't already done so, schools will soon be reaching out to families to schedule times to meet with staff. Feel free to reach out to your school with questions.

WHS Theatre presents-Rotten Apples by Tracy Wells
November 20-22, 2025 @7pm

On a stormy night, a motley crew of villains and fairy-tale misfits must help Prince Charming guess a tricky imp’s name to escape a locked mansion. But when the lights go out and guests start dropping, the riddle—and the chaos—only get wilder.

Bethel Family Resource Center

The Bethel Family Resource Center (formerly the Cascade Family Resource Center) is open on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month from 4 - 6 pm. We are a full-service food pantry offering produce, dairy, bread and non-perishable foods. In addition, we have laundry soap, toilet paper, toiletries and more. Please wait to come until about 3:45 pm, at 3:50 pm we will come out to distribute numbers for entry. We will begin serving folks by no later than 4 pm. Please be aware of parking limitations due to bus pick-up lanes. We have air conditioned waiting rooms for folks to sit and visit while you are waiting your turn to shop. We would love to serve any family in need of food resources so please come check us out at the new Clear Lake Community Center (formerly Clear Lake Elementary School) on Barger Dr.

Bethel’s Green Teams

This year, our school Green Teams are hoping to spread the word about a simple way we can all make a difference: turn the key and be idle free!

When cars idle during drop-off and pick-up, the exhaust adds extra CO₂ to the air—something our students breathe in as they walk to and from school. Even a few minutes of idling can add up, costing families money in wasted gas and contributing to air pollution. By turning off your car while you wait, you’re helping keep the air cleaner for everyone—and modeling great habits for our kids. Small changes really do add up!
